Welcome, friend. Move my laundry pile around till you can find a seat, and stay awhile. I can’t promise anything fancy, but there will be coffee, chocolate, and conversation.
Like many of you, I’m a certified, card-carrying introvert. I love people, but I prefer the company of one friend in my goldfish-strewn living room to most any crowded gathering on the planet. I first knew I was called to women’s ministry because my name is Jen. (I’m not sure you’re allowed to serve women if your name isn’t some variation of “Jennifer.” It’s one of the catechisms I think).
I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart for 14 years and together we have three young children: two are wild cards and one does exactly as she’s told (she worries me most).
I am deeply blessed to be a pastor’s wife. Though I love serving women, it usually feels like the women of my church out-serve me. I’m so grateful for the body of Christ.
I launched this blog on the foundation of Luke 10, looking inside the ministry-rich home of Martha and her sister Mary. Like Martha and probably like you, my hands are full of tasks– important tasks, ministry tasks, homeschool tasks, pastor’s-wife tasks, laundry tasks, meal-prep tasks. I get worried and distracted. Christ’s words to Martha both rebuke and refresh me: “One Thing is necessary. Mary has made the right choice, and it will not be taken away from her.” One Thing. Because really just one thing is needed. Mary sat at the feet of her Savior.
My prayer is that the writing found here would bring you closer to the feet of the One who made you and loves you. You matter so much to Him.
